　　　ポストモダンと言われる時代、私はまだまだ人々が近代に慣れていないように思える。本当のポストモダンというものは、個人個人が成熟した時点で成立するのではないだろうか。そして、ポストモダンという時代が到来した時、研究者は必要が無くなる。問題が発生した時、人々が自分でそれについて考え、自分で対処するからである。しかし、それは本当の意味での多様化であり、社会の単位が完全な個人でしかなくなる。地域性などというものは無くなり、完全に地球は個人という領域に分断される。自分の必要なものは選択し、必要の無いものは切り捨てる。自由の果てには完全な自立が待っている。私は、それが嫌である。皮肉なものだが、究極の自由とは自由であるからこそ自由に縛られる。結局、自由が矛盾を内包しているからこそ、研究者は必要な存在である。そして、私はそんな矛盾した世界にいながら、いや、いるからこそ学び、考え、研究者という存在になりたいのだと思う。

Though it is said that people live in "post-modern," it dose not seem that people have accustomed themselves even to "modern." It is when each individuals mature as a citizen that the true "post-modern" comes. And the necessity of a scholar will disappear when the "post-modern" comes. However, it means the true diversification, and a unit of the society becomes just only individuals. The concept of region will disappear, and the earth will be divided into domains only of individuals. People accept only vital things; reject others. Ultimate freedom lead to complete independence. I do not like it. As is ironic, ultimate freedom restricts freedom because of itself. After all, a scholar is necessary since the freedom has contradiction. Since I am existing such an cotradictive world, I may want to learn, think and become a scholar.

Discussion on the 3rd and 4th future mentioneby Wagar

Our group mainly discussed the transition from the 3rd future to the 4th future. According to Wagar, all problem human beings have will be solved as the 2nd future improves, and it means the necessity of the administration, like a world government, his saying "workers' republic," will become little. Thus, the 3rd future, that is, communism society will come. However, will all problem be solved? According to Gell-Mann, who is the author of RCA text, new problem will be risen even if human beings invent or improve new technology. Can human beings overcome all weakness? Since this question depends on the situation in the future, we cannot answer clearly, but I think his opinion is too idealistic. Moreover, I want to mention the 4th future. He argues that the 4th future will come after the 3rd future, but his 4th future cannot come. In the 3rd future, human beings will not fight or conflict each other, and this means the gradual decline of the technology. In the novel 'Time Machine' by H. G. Wells, though it is influenced by the thought of socialism, he describes two types of human beings in the future. One is Eloi, who live on the ground and depend on the past high technology; the other is Morlocks, who live under the ground and eat Eloi.

Summary and Reaction to the 3rd et 4th future mentioned by Wagar

Summary
According to Wagar, "each stage in world history is but a prologue to the one that follows it, worlds without end." He argues that the 3rd future will come after the 2nd future is established. The 2nd future is the democratic socialism in a "tightly integrated world system," but residents are free from one powerful administration in the 3rd future. In the society without any problem occurring like now, the "workers' republic" becomes no meaning. Moreover, development of technology enables us to complete our lives in a small area near ourselves. After that, Wagar indicates that how future will come cannot be clearly explained but the 4th future will come. He predicts the 4th future as space colonization. For there are numberless stars, and then there is large possibility of existence of other civilization in the universe. In the last part, he mentions "we are all one family," or "we are all one," and he thinks now and the future are connected.

Discussion on the 1st to 2nd future mentioned by Wagar

Our group mainly discussed the transition from the 1st future to 2nd future. We all thought that his arguments in this section are just based on Marxism.
